Our colleagues Viktorija, Chief Marketing Officer and Lina, Affiliate Marketing Manager had the opportunity to attend Affiliate Management Days 2017 which took place in San Francisco, USA and gathered a powerhouse of the most innovative affiliate program managers, consultants, and vendors in the affiliate domain to share knowledge and build community.
It is the must-attend event for marketing managers and everyone responsible for their company’s affiliate marketing strategy, management and operations.
Affiliate Marketing Redesigned
As a lot of you probably know Affiliate Marketing is a performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more Affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the Publisher’s own marketing efforts. The industry has three core players – the brand, the publisher and the customer.
A publisher is an independent individual or company that promotes brand product or service in exchange for performance-based payments.
The final component that completes the Affiliate relationship triangle is the customer. The customer is the one who actually sees the efforts of publisher marketing campaigns and then makes an action (either by clicking a link or by submitting their information via a form) that takes them from the publisher’s website to the advertiser’s to complete the action, which we call a conversion – in our case, a purchase.
Why it’s worth attending AM Days 2017?
There is a lot of Affiliate Marketing events oriented towards relationship building with potential partners, however, there are only a few conferences oriented towards Affiliate Marketing managers where they can enhance their skills.
Affiliate Management Days 2017 is great for managers seeking to get valuable insights into how other online retailers are successfully implementing and managing their Affiliate programs.
Attendees can share their ideas, experiences, insights, discuss existing Affiliate Marketing problems and discover new trends.
“During Affiliate Management Days 2017 we had the opportunity to listen to the most influential Affiliate Marketing experts such as Todd Crawford — Co-Founder and VP Strategic Initiative at Impact Radius, Robert Glazer — Founder and Managing Director at Acceleration Partners, Brian Littleton — CEO at ShareASale and other inspiring Affiliate Marketing specialists.“ says Lina.
The most awaited speaker was Evgenii (Geno) Prussakov – AM Days Chair & Founder, Affiliate blog author, Affiliate management books bestseller and Affiliate Marketing expert who developed Affiliate Marketing for companies such as Forbes, Nokia, Hallmark, Warner Music, Skype, Forex Club & other.
“In 2011, upon realizing the affiliate marketing industry’s need and readiness for deep-level knowledge on marketing through affiliates, I conceived the idea of AM Days. Ever since our very first conference in 2012 we’ve always been focused on helping advertisers and affiliate managers make the most of their affiliate programs, leveraging the newest opportunities and combatting the newest threats and challenges.“ says Evgenii (Geno) Prussakov.
The old Affiliate Marketing approach and overall understanding (Affiliate – as a marketing channel for conversions generation) is shifting towards performance partnerships based on influencers. We see tendencies such as product or service relevance, merchant reputation and transparency, brand awareness becoming much more important to Affiliates than the actual payout terms and methods compared to the last few years.
IaaS sector is quite a niche in Affiliate marketing which requires niche publishers who know the product and the audience well. We have been applying Affiliate marketing for Host1Plus since 2014 and the most important thing and the greatest challenge during those few years is to find new partners.
There is an intense competition between service providers more than ever seeking to attract competent, qualified and professional Affiliates meaning that we must always possess traits such as motivation, determination and persistence.
As the saying goes, “Persistence is the key to success.” and this applies to both the Brand and the Affiliate.
