FAQ About the Heficed IPAM Transition to IPXO

The IP Address Market is becoming a unique product. Starting August 31, 2021, you can start managing IP resources using the dedicated IPXO platform designed to make your life easier.

With the first launch, we will start migrating some of the IPAM features from Heficed to IPXO.

This FAQ guide will help you prepare for the smooth transition from the Heficed IP Address Market to the IPXO marketplace. It answers the most common questions related to the changes that will occur at Heficed when IPXO goes live.

Transition to IPXO

Phase I: Launch of IPXO

IPXO v1.0 (Aquamarine) was launched on August 31, 2021. With this version, we start moving ARIN and RIPE subnets available for lease from Heficed to IPXO. Moving forward, you will be able to add new ARIN and RIPE subnets for monetization only via IPXO.

At the moment, nothing changes for AFRINIC, APNIC, and LACNIC subnets that remain untouched at Heficed. We plan the complete migration within a few months, and this is when subnets available for lease from AFRINIC, APNIC, and LACNIC will be moved to IPXO as well. Active Heficed services will not be touched. Only free stock or new subnets will be moved to IPXO.

Phase II: Full migration

We plan to complete full migration by the end of October 2021. With that, we will terminate active IP lease services offered at Heficed. This will affect only those services that are assigned to other ASNs with LOAs (i.e., outside infrastructures).

As we terminate services at Heficed, we will simultaneously create services at IPXO under new IPXO accounts to ensure that IP holders do not lose a penny in payouts. Clients will be able to access the old payout history at Heficed, but new payouts will be recorded at IPXO.

General Questions

How will I log in to the IPXO platform for the first time?

You will be able to log in with your current Heficed login, your Google account, or an email address. Existing IPXO users can use the password reset function in case they forget a password, while new IPXO users can create a new account to log in.

Do I need to transfer my IP resources from Heficed to IPXO?

No, you don’t need to take any action. We will move ARIN and RIPE subnets available for lease to the new IPXO platform first. In the following months, we will migrate the remaining IP resources, including leased subnets.

Will it be possible to add IP addresses to the IP Address Market via the Heficed Terminal?

Yes, you will still be able to add subnets from APNIC, AFRINIC, and LACNIC to Heficed’s IP Address Market. Once the subnet migration is completed within a few months, adding subnets to the IP Address Market will no longer be possible.

Will it be possible to lease IP addresses via the Heficed IP Address Market and assign them to the Heficed cloud or bare-metal servers?

Yes, most IP addresses at IPXO will be available for lease via the Heficed IP Address Market, and you will be able to assign them to cloud and bare-metal servers.

Will it be possible to lease IP addresses via the Heficed IP Address Market and assign them to any service provider?

Yes, you will still be able to access the IP Address Market via Heficed and lease IP addresses from there with the first launch of IPXO. Later, we will migrate this feature to IPXO.

Will it be possible to lease IP addresses via IPXO and assign them to the Heficed cloud or bare-metal servers?

No. However, this will be possible in the later versions of IPXO, and you will be able to assign IPs to Heficed and, later, to other infrastructure providers.

I am using the Heficed infrastructure, and I am also monetizing and/or leasing IP addresses. Can I keep a unified billing setup in one platform?

No. Since you will have separate profiles for IPXO and Heficed, each platform will use its own billing system.
